On Friday, around 20:00, not far an incident was recorded from the venue of the rally and concert. The BMW driver got out of the car and inflicted bodily injuries on a young man born in 2003, on whose shoulders the flag of Ukraine was thrown. The attacker managed to escape from the scene.
Law enforcement officers immediately began a criminal process, and also began operational-search measures, during which the identity of the attacker was established. On the night of Saturday, the police, together with the special forces of the Riga Regional Office, detained the suspect. It is specified that he was hiding behind a chimney in the attic at his place of residence.
The man is in a temporary detention center. In the near future, a decision will be made on the application of a preventive measure. Previously, he had already come to the attention of the police.
It is noted that the case was opened under the article on hooliganism associated with inflicting bodily harm to the victim. Such a violation is punishable by imprisonment of up to 5 years or short-term imprisonment, police supervision, community service or a fine.
