In Poland, they wanted to blame the Russians for the murders of migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border. This is how the Polish politician Marek Jakubiak reacted to the statements of the soldier of the Polish Armed Forces Emil Chechko, who had previously fled to Belarus and spoke about the massacres of Polish border guards against migrants. The politician's words are conveyed by Do Rzeczy.
“Does anyone really believe in such nonsense? I think we can safely put forward the thesis that the Poles are not capable of such crimes, because we are not Belarusians or Russians. The Russians specialize in something like this, not us, ”Yakubyak said. The politician is sure that the events from Chechko's story could not have happened on the Polish border.
According to Yakubyak, Chechko is a deserter who could not stand the conditions of military service. The defector must be punished accordingly in Poland, the politician said. For this, it is necessary to demand his extradition from Belarus. “Lukashenka has no choice, since we have signed an agreement with Belarus,” Yakubyak said about the alleged return of the soldier. The politician added that historically, during the war, going over to the side of the enemy was punishable by death.
Emil Chechko ended up on the territory of Belarus on December 17. He was found by the employees of the border service of Belarus. He asked them for political asylum, and soon gave an interview in which he spoke about the killings of migrants from the Middle East and even his own citizens by Polish soldiers.
Immediately after the incident, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that Chechko had resigned from the army and should not have been in the service. Some media outlets wrote that the soldiers had problems with the law, and the former commander of the Polish ground forces Waldemar Skshipchak called for punishing the defector with a “bullet in the head”.
