The government of a neighboring country plans to initiate amendments to the legislation in order to obtain the right to confiscate.

The Polish government is considering the possibility of confiscation of Russian property and assets in the country due to the war unleashed by the Kremlin in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told Wprost.

According to him , on the territory of Poland there are real estate and financial assets (shares) of Russians under EU sanctions, but their confiscation is hindered by the current legislation. Therefore, first it is necessary to make changes at the constitutional level by voting in the Seimas. Consultations have begun with the parliamentary opposition on this matter.

“On the one hand, there are constitutional restrictions on such actions related to the right of ownership, and on the other hand, more and more Poles do not understand why, if Italians confiscate Russian yachts oligarchs, we cannot carry out such actions in our country,” Morawiecki said.

Recall that the Italian financial guard arrested the world's largest motorized sailboat worth 530 million euros, belonging to the assets of Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko. This measure was carried out in accordance with the sanctions that are applied to the Russian rich, who support Putin, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
