In Poland, scammers have come up with a new way to deceive citizens. They use stolen Booking.com accounts and send messages asking customers to confirm their booking.
The Warsaw publication writes about this.
As noted, scammers have come up with a new scheme to deceive citizens using stolen accounts on Booking.com. Criminals ask clients to confirm their accommodation reservation through payment. At the same time, if a person refuses to carry out a transaction, scammers threaten to cancel the reservation.
“Criminals use previously stolen accounts of properties listed on Booking.com. From these accounts, they send messages to people who have booked accommodation there. In the messages, they demand payment to confirm the reservation, threatening to cancel it otherwise,” writes NASK.
In addition, using a link to a mirror site posing as a popular rental portal, scammers collect personal data, credit information or ask for a bank transfer.
For its part, the portal calls for special attention to messages coming from strangers, but on behalf of the popular platform. You should also not click on the links sent by scammers.
Recall that Warsaw is considering the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles heading towards Poland while they are still in Ukrainian airspace.
