Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Europe is currently losing economically and politically in the confrontation with Russia. He wrote about this in an article for The Daily Telegraph, TASS reports.
According to Morawiecki, European governments were passive in the face of the “growing Russian threat.” “The leaders lacked the courage and determination to break business ties with the Kremlin. The noose is being tightened around the neck of Europe, not Moscow,” he said. At the same time, Moscow, according to him, “cynically and effectively takes advantage of European weakness.” He also called Russia's policy “painfully rational”.
The Polish prime minister pointed out that Europe's dependence on Russian gas allegedly gives Moscow the opportunity to influence decisions about Ukraine. He also called on European countries and their partners for solidarity and cooperation. The most effective arguments from the West will be the threat of sanctions and the “unequivocal intention” to block the launch of Nord Stream 2, Morawiecki said. “In a critical situation, we need genuine leaders to end the threat and return Europe to the path of security and development,” he concluded.
