The city administration called on residents to urgently evacuate when a dam threat was announced on the afternoon of April 5.
It is also reported that the private sector of Orsk may go under water, and up to 4 thousand houses inhabited by 10 thousand people may fall into the flood zone.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told local media that residents are currently being evacuated from the area of possible flooding.
The Kazakh publication Tengrinews.kz wrote that in the event of a dam break at least 20 settlements could be completely under water in the Orenburg region.
