French military forces will be deployed to other locations in the African Sahel region.

French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that France and its allies in European forces are withdrawing their troops from Mali after nearly a decade.

It is reported by the BBC.

Macron said the decision came after a break in diplomatic relations and a rise in hostile rhetoric from Mali's military junta. He added that military forces will be deployed to other places in the African Sahel region.

In 2013, troops are known to have been involved in the fight against Islamist militants in the country since 2013.

It is noted that relations between France and Mali deteriorated after the military coup in August 2020. Then, the Malayan junta began close cooperation with Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group, which is accused of war crimes in the Donbass, as well as in the Middle East and Africa.
