The anti-socialism inspection team caught a 30-year-old dance teacher teaching teenage students disco dances in a foreign style.
A 30-year-old teacher was arrested in North Korea because she taught children the wrong dances. The dance moves were called “capitalist”.
This is reported by VOA with reference to Radio Free Asia.
North Korean authorities have arrested a dance teacher and several of her students after she used foreign media to teach them “capitalist” dance moves. Last year, the DPRK passed a law prohibiting residents from reviewing and distributing media from capitalist countries, in particular, from South Korea and the United States. Even the death penalty is provided for violation of the Law as the most severe punishment
“The anti-socialism inspection team caught a 30-year-old dance teacher teaching teenage students disco dances in a foreign style in Yanji-dong, Pyongseong city,” they say on Radio Free Asia.
It is noted that the Anti-Socialism Inspectorate detained a dance instructor when it discovered that a USB flash drive with foreign songs and dance videos was connected to her TV.
“Teenage students learned to dance by imitating choreography on the screen. The anti-socialism inspection group seized the flash drive and took the teacher and all the students to their headquarters,” the report says.
It was also reported that the dance teacher taught at the university, but gave additional dance lessons at home to earn a little extra money because she did not have enough wages to live on. It was at home that she was exposed at the “capitalist” dances.
“The children preferred to learn to dance, as they do in South Korea, China and America, rather than in the North Korean style. Therefore, she taught them,” the source said.
“Members of the Anti-Socialism Inspection Group hid for two days in civilian clothes at the dance teacher’s house. … They watched how many students came, and then they searched the house,” another source said.
According to a third source, most of the students are children from wealthy families who are usually not severely punished for offenses because of their money and power.
Recall that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un rode a white horse in a documentary about the regime’s achievement in 2021.
