In Moscow on June 23, a record for the heat was set for the entire time of meteorological observations

In Moscow, June 23 was the hottest day in the history of meteorological observations. The previous 73-year-old heat record has been broken, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, told TASS.

“The temperature in Moscow reached 34.3 degrees at 14:00. The record was taken by a noticeable margin, ”he said, adding that the previous record on June 23 belonged to 1948, then the air warmed up to 33.6 degrees. According to Vilfand, new heat records are possible in the Russian capital this week.

“Tomorrow the record value of 1948 is 33.5 degrees, for June 25 – 33.1 degrees in 2010, for June 26 – 33.6 in 2010, too,” said the forecaster. According to the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, 34-36 degrees Celsius are expected on Thursday and Friday in Moscow, and 33-35 degrees on Saturday.

Earlier, MIR 24 wrote that Muscovites will face enormous heat stress today. According to Pavel Konstantinov, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of Moscow State University, this did not happen even in 2010. The hydrometeorological center extended the “orange” level of weather danger in Moscow and the Moscow region due to very high temperatures until Thursday, June 24. The average daily temperature in the region is predicted to be 7-10 degrees higher than normal.
