Two Romanian fighters from the Air Police NATO tracked the movement of an enemy missile near the borders of their country.
Russian Ambassador in Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova because of a Russian missile that flew over two Moldovan cities on Friday, 10 February.
This was reported on the website of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
The message noted that Moldova considers the violation of airspace by flying over the sovereign territory of a Russian missile unacceptable.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry stressed that the Russian side continues the war of conquest against Ukraine, and “rocket strikes on the neighboring state have a direct and negative impact on the citizens of our country.”
“We call on the Russian Federation to stop military aggression against the neighboring country, which entails numerous human casualties and material destruction,” said Daniel Wode, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the information of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, published in an official statement, the missile crossed Moldova over the Transnistrian region.
“At 10:18, the responsible structures of the department discovered a missile that crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova, over the city of Mokra, Transnistrian region, and subsequently over the city of Cosauke, Soroca region, heading towards Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense said that military radars detected a Russian “air target” that did not cross the borders of this country.

“The aerial surveillance system of the Romanian Air Force detected on Friday, February 10, an aerial target launched from the Black Sea from a ship of the Russian Federation, near the Crimean peninsula, most likely a cruise missile moving in the airspace of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and re-entering the airspace of Ukraine , without ever crossing Romanian airspace. The closest target trajectory point to Romanian airspace was recorded by radar systems approximately 35 kilometers northeast of the border,” the report said.
The Romanian authorities applied all standard procedures from the moment an air target was launched until the situation was fully clarified.
In addition, at 10:38, two MiG-21 LanceR aircraft of the Romanian Air Force from the combat service of the Air Police under NATO command, which at that time were carrying out a training flight, were diverted to the northern region of Romania for monitoring and possible response. Approximately two minutes later, the situation cleared up, and both aircraft continued their initial mission.
Recall that earlier the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny reported that two Russian missiles fired at Ukraine crossed the airspace of Moldova and Romania.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called it a “challenge for NATO”.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense did not confirm the flight of a Russian missile over the territory of the country, promising to provide additional information later.
