On Thursday, January 27, in Lutsk (Volyn region), a fire broke out at night in a dormitory of a local university. In this regard, a mass evacuation of students was carried out.
The incident was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The fire broke out in the dormitory of the Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka on Sobornost Avenue – in an inactive garbage collection room. Rescuers received information about the fire at 01.36.
Due to the fire, strong smoke formed in the dorm room (especially the 5-9 floors of the building were covered with smoke).
Because of this, three students on the eighth floor were actually trapped and could not leave the dorm on their own. They were rescued by GSCHS fighters and taken out into the fresh air.
– With the help of self-rescuers connected to the means of protection of the organs of vision and breathing, the staff of the State Emergency Service took the young people out into the fresh air, – noted in the department.
In addition, 76 more people were evacuated from the building.
19 rescuers and 6 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. The fire was localized at 01.45, and liquidated at 01.48.
Fortunately, there are no victims. The cause of the fire will be investigated.
It is worth noting that in recent days there have been a number of fires in different regions of Ukraine.
So, in Dnipro, on January 22, an office building of the ATB network broke out. The fire spread from the first to the seventh floor of the nine-storey building. It was stewed for several hours.
And in Snovsk, a fire broke out in the St. Nicholas Church of the Chernihiv diocese of the UOC. The flames destroyed church objects, damaged the floor and walls.
At the same time, on January 25, there was a fire in the laboratory of the physics room in Gymnasium No. 17 in the center of Vinnytsia. In this regard, 312 students and 49 employees of the gymnasium were evacuated.
