Late on Tuesday evening, January 19, an explosion thundered on the territory of a higher naval school in the Libyan city of Janzur, one of the suburbs of the country's capital Tripoli. As a result, according to preliminary data, at least five people were killed and the same number were injured, according to the local Afrigatenews portal citing the Libyan Ministry of Health.
It is noted that the explosion took place at the ammunition depot, which is located on the territory of the school, then a strong fire broke out, the fire engulfed part of the campus.
Among the dead were two brigadier generals of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Faiz Sarraj: rector of a military university Ahmed Ayyub and his deputy Salem Abu Salah.
The publication notes that the explosion occurred after the meeting of the chief of staff of the armed forces of the PNS with the cadets and their instructors, officers.
