In Kyiv, the main state flag of Ukraine, installed on the Pechersk Hills, will be temporarily lowered. The reason is worsening weather conditions, in particular strong wind.
The Kyiv City State Administration press service reported this on Telegram.
According to forecasts of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, gusts of wind with a speed of 15-18 m/s are expected in Kyiv until the end of June 28 and during the day of June 29. This level of danger is classified as yellow (level I).
According to the Kyivzelenstroy municipal association, the decision to temporarily lower the flag was made for safety reasons – to avoid damaging the large piece of cloth.
The country's main flagpole is installed on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II. Its height is almost 90 meters, its weight is 32 tons, and the size of the flag is 16 by 24 meters.
The flag will be raised to its full height again after weather conditions stabilize.
