In Kyiv, the construction of a pedestrian bridge from Obolonskaya embankment to Obolonsky Island will continue. It began in 2020.
The money for the construction was given by patrons. Mayor Vitali Klitschko spoke about this.
Construction of a pedestrian bridge to Obolonsky Island will continue
Klitschko said that the capital will continue the construction of a pedestrian bridge from Obolonskaya embankment to Obolonsky Island, which has been ongoing since 2020 at the expense of patrons.
We do not attract money from the city budget. Kyiv received funds to continue construction from the Metropolis of Greater Paris. These are targeted funds that foreign partners allocated to us for the construction of this particular facility. By the beginning of 2023, they had already installed 3 bridge supports and started installing the fourth one, purchased materials,” the mayor noted.
For the money provided by the Greater Paris Metropolis:
- they will complete the installation of the 4th pillar of the bridge,
- they will purchase and install auxiliary and partially purlin structures,
- will acquire metal structures.
According to the project, the bridge rests on 4 pillars, 2 of which are located in the strait. It will be 4 meters wide and 164 meters long.
“The bridge will be comfortable for the movement of people with limited mobility. The object will not interfere with the passage of small boats to the Obolon Bay. We will equip Obolonsky Island as a modern recreation area for the people of Kiev with the preservation of flora and fauna,” Klitschko said.
