With the help of an informant, the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down a rare and expensive Russian UAV.
In the Kursk region, civilians are transmitting information to the Ukrainian Armed Forces about the location of “Kadyrovites” and enemy military facilities.
This is reported by the Center for National resistance.
It is noted that an increasing number of Russians – both civilians and military – are cooperating with the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Reports about Kadyrov's men in the Kursk region have become simply widespread.
“Also, behind almost every successful strike deep into the temporarily occupied territories there are people who provide information about air defense positions, ammunition depots or the movement of Russian units. There are also more interesting cases. Thus, on August 31, 2024, news appeared that in the Kursk direction, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a very interesting target – a rare reconnaissance and strike UAV “Orion”, a kind of Russian “Bayraktar” on a minimum. According to data from open sources, up to 30 such drones were produced in total, and at least 6 were shot down (excluding the Kursk one), the destruction was confirmed visually,” the report says.
Their cost is not reported, but the total investment in this project has already amounted to about $30 million.
“The Russians themselves contributed to the destruction of this “Orion”. The informant is inside the group that services and pilots these drones and is associated with “Kronshtadt”. Some time ago, this person contacted representatives of certain units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and offered to provide data on the UAV, the control system and personnel training,” the National Resistance adds.
Recall that the American ISW assessed whether the Russians have enough strength to drive the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the Kursk region.
