In Kazakhstan, in Aktau (a city in the south-west of the country), they began to demand the resignation of the country's president, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. More than 10 thousand people are participating in the rally.
According to a correspondent of one of the local media outlets, the rally is being held peacefully and calmly.
According to him, a group of people in military clothes joined the protesters. They introduced themselves as employees of the Ministry of Defense and said that they could not go against the people.
Let us remind you that Kazakh President Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev said, that will head the Security Council of the country, which was previously headed by the first president of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev. He also said that he was preparing a new package of political reforms.
On Monday, January 2, protests began in Kazakhstan. They were caused by the increase in prices for autogas from 60 to 120 tenge per liter. Then the protesters expanded their demands. In particular, they want the resignation of the government and the removal of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev from politics.
The President of Kazakhstan agreed to dismiss the country's government, after which he introduced a state of emergency in Almaty, Nur-Sultani and Mangistau region until January 19.
