Japanese media corporation NHK Enterprises bought the rights to show the Russian TV series Sherlock in Russia. Reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
It is specified that in Japan the series will be broadcast on the AXN Mystery TV channel. The channel's management called the Russian project unique and different from other film adaptations of stories about the British detective Sherlock Holmes. The show is scheduled to premiere on February 14th.
Sherlock in Russia tells the story of how an iconic character from Arthur Conan Doyle's books travels to 19th century St. Petersburg to catch Jack the Ripper. The main roles in the show were played by Maxim Matveev, Vladimir Mishukov and Irina Starshenbaum. The series premiered in Russia in October 2020.
Earlier it was reported that Disney had bought the rights to show the Russian TV series Dyatlov Pass. The license was acquired by the German branch of the corporation from the distributor Beta Film.
