In Japan, an armed man attacked a Korean restaurant and took its owner hostage

In Japan, a man barricaded himself in a restaurant and took a hostage. The police are trying to start negotiations with him.

According to one of the local TV channels, the incident took place on the evening of January 8 in the center of Tokyo. The attacker entered a Korean restaurant and pulled out a knife, frightening customers and staff.

When an armed man tried to calm him down, he took the restaurant's owner hostage.

At the scene of the incident, the police are working: it is now known that only one person is being held hostage.

Law enforcers are trying to establish the motives for the attack on the restaurant owner, as well as to find out if the attacker has any requirements.
