Italy recorded a record 126,888 cases of COVID-19 infection per day

In Italy, a sharp increase in cases of COVID-19 infection was recorded per day, for the first time during a pandemic in the country, more than 100 thousand people were infected with coronavirus. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to the statistics of the country's Ministry of Health.

During the day, 126,888 people were declared infected. The day before, the increase was 98 thousand infected. Thus, the anti-record was updated for the sixth day in a row.

The increase in mortality per day was 156 cases, when as of Monday, December 27, 136 people were declared victims of the pandemic.

Earlier in December, Italy introduced the mandatory wearing of masks on the street. According to the country's health minister, Roberto Speranza, citizens should use FFP2 respirators in public transport, in cinemas, theaters and stadiums. The minister also said that the validity period of the Green Pass electronic certificate will be reduced from nine to six months.
