In Hong Kong, police searched an online publication and arrested six workers

Two hundred police officers per editorial office – In Hong Kong, authorities launch a new attack on media. The police came to the popular online publication, searched and arrested six employees.

So, the current and former editor and four members of the board of directors of the publication were behind bars. Searches were also carried out in their homes. The detainees are accused of conspiracy – allegedly with the aim of publishing seditious materials.

The controversial law on national security, which came into force last year, allowed the police to arrest the police. This document strengthens the position of the central Chinese authorities in the semi-autonomous city and, in fact, justifies the repression of the opposition. The adoption of this law was preceded by massive protests by Hong Kongers, and Western countries condemned the document.
