In Haiti authorities declared a 72-hour state of emergency and a night curfew in the capital and surrounding areas due to the mass exodus of prisoners.

BBC writes about this.

A state of emergency has been declared after armed gangs stormed Port-au-Prince's large prison, killing at least 12 people and freeing some 4,000 prisoners.

Gang leaders say they want to force out-of-country Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign. Groups seeking to eliminate him control about 80% of Port-au-Prince.

Gangs attacked two prisons. One in the capital, and the other in neighboring Croix-des-Bouquets. They were stormed over the weekend.

Violence erupted in the country after the Prime Minister traveled to Nairobi to discuss sending a Kenyan-led multinational security force to Haiti.

Gang leader Jimmy “Barbecue” Sherezier has launched a coordinated attack to eliminate him.

Recall that in the capital of Honduras there was a riot in a women's prison, during which at least 41 women were killed, and some of them died as a result of fatal burns.
