Since June 2022, Bürgergeld in Germany will also be received by those leaving Ukraine. Now there are about 1.25 million of them in Germany.

Citizens of Ukraine who were forced to move to Germany may be left without civil assistance. Now one unemployed person there is paid 564 euros per month. However, many in Germany are unhappy with this.

BILD writes about this.

As noted, from January 1 of this year, the allowance for one unemployed Ukrainian in Germany is 563 euros per month. However, many local residents are unhappy with this, since it is often more profitable to receive tax-exempt assistance and work part-time in shadow employment than to take a regular job and pay taxes.

Since June 2022, Bürgergeld in Germany will also be received by those leaving Ukraine. Now there are about 1.25 million of them in Germany. Those arriving from other countries can count on only 460 euros in assistance for refugees.

“Refugees arriving due to the war in Ukraine should not receive Bürgergeld in the future, but [payments] under the Law on Benefits for Asylum Seekers. We have labor shortages everywhere. For example, in the areas of catering, construction, and personal care. We should no longer use taxpayers’ money to finance unemployment, but should give people jobs,” said Bundestag member Bijan Jir-Saray.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the federal state of Brandenburg, Michael Stübgen, a member of the conservative CDU party, came to the same opinion. He called Bürgergeld for Ukrainians a “fundamental mistake” and “a brake on getting to work.”

Let us recall that Scholz pointed out a dangerous scenario for the development of the war in Ukraine.
