Bundestag deputy Kotre: the launch of the Nord Stream-2 will not be canceled due to the crisis in Ukraine

The Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project will not suffer due to the crisis over Ukraine and the alleged preparations for the invasion, which Western countries accuse the Russian authorities of. The maximum that can happen is that the launch of the project will be postponed again, said Stefan Kotre, a member of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany party, in a conversation with
Thus, no matter how far the situation around Ukraine has gone, it can only affect the launch speed. “I am sure that sooner or later it will be launched. But any further delays will have a negative impact on everyone involved in the project,” Cotre explained.
Assessing the request of the German authorities to European partners, in which they insisted on not including the energy sector in the list of anti-Russian sanctions, the politician said: this is due to Berlin’s distrust of other Western countries.
Earlier, Bloomberg, citing sources, wrote that Germany calls on the United States and European countries to make an exception for the energy sector when imposing anti-Russian sanctions on Ukraine. At the same time, the agency’s interlocutors are confident that the exception will not affect the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
