The robot easily makes contact with people.

Munich startup Navel Robotics produces robots for homes where the elderly live. According to the idea, development should replace grandchildren.

Bild writes about this.

What is known about the development

According to the author of the development, Claude Toussaint, the robot can establish eye contact and determine by facial expression how another person is feeling. It is based on AI, so it can tell jokes, listen to life stories and ask questions.

Now the work of Navel Robotics is being tested in several nursing homes at once. For many older people, having a robot child interact with them reminds them of when their children were little. Residents of the houses eagerly meet their robot grandson, who is very cute and reacts well to people.

After completing the tests, Navel Robotics is going to launch mass production of robots. It is noted that they will be sold in a set of two for approximately 48 thousand euros.

Recall that the New York police have sent a new robot to retire.
