Germany said Nord Stream 2 was a good project, but the topic is closed for a long time

The Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was a good project, but now the topic of its launch is closed for a long time. This opinion was expressed by the executive director of the Eastern Committee of the German economy, Michael Harms, reports RIA Novosti.
“We have always defended this gas pipeline, it was … a good project, but I believe that the topic has been exhausted,” Kharms said on the DLF radio station.
At the same time, he considered that, in general, the cessation of gas supplies from Russia is not expected. According to Kharms, the damage from the sanctions against Moscow, which were supported by Germany, is already large enough, so any retaliatory measures from the Russian side “are unlikely to change anything in substance.”
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. His press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that its goal is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, and the timing of the special operation will be determined by the supreme commander.
In response, the United States, Great Britain and EU countries imposed new sanctions against Moscow. In particular, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev and other Russian officials were included in the EU sanctions list. The EU document also confirmed the imposition of sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
