In the German city of Chemnitz (federal state of Saxony), a passerby was shot when he was shot directly from the window of a residential building on the evening of Friday, July 4. The victim was a 41-year-old Ukrainian citizen.

BILD reports this with reference to the Saxon police.

Witnesses to the incident promptly called the police.

Law enforcement officers immediately cordoned off the area around the scene. Special forces arrived at the scene due to an unknown threat. The shooter was found in an apartment on the third floor of a residential building on Bahnhofstrasse.

Arrest of the suspect

The suspect was a 40-year-old German citizen. Police noted that he did not resist law enforcement officers during his arrest.
