As noted, a 55-year-old man contacted the Lubeck police. He said that he found a bag on the street near the local school. It contained an ID card and a wad of cash for 16,400 euros.
Thanks to the documents, law enforcement officers contacted the owner, who immediately arrived at the station. It turned out to be a teacher from a foreign school who brought children to a handball tournament. The lost amount was intended for their maintenance abroad.
“We rarely deal with such honest and courageous people these days,” said Lübeck police spokesman Ulli Fritz Gerlach.
He also added that the man refused the bonus due to him and quickly left the site.
Recall that a 75-year-old pensioner became $5 million richer after completing cancer treatment.
