The oppositionist said that in this way he expressed "sincere protest" against the theft of votes from Georgian voters.
A representative of the Georgian opposition party “Unity – National Movement” David Kirtadze, who poured black paint on the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Giorgi Kalandarishvili, explained his actions.
As Interpressnews reports, at a briefing on Saturday evening, November 16, he stated that it was a “sincere protest” against the theft of votes from voters.
“It was solidarity with those students and all the Georgian people who lost their votes,” the oppositionist explained.
According to him, today's political reality in Georgia does not express the will of the people.
“You all saw blind Kalandarishvili, he saw no violations, no beatings, no intimidation, no bribery during the entire election period… Therefore, I call on every Georgian, every citizen of Georgia, today is the time to fight to save Georgia from Russification!” – said Kirtadze.
He also said that he will not hide from the investigation launched by the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs on this fact, and is ready to “answer any of their questions”.
Recall that before the official announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections, in which the pro-government party “Georgian Dream” allegedly won, opposition representative David Kirtadze doused the head of the Central Election Commission Giorgi Kalandarishvili with paint. Kalandarishvili subsequently continued the hearing with an eye patch, and the Georgian Interior Ministry launched an investigation into the incident, classifying it as intentional harm to health.
