The prosecutor in Paris asked to imprison the “cryptocurrency king” Alexander Vinnik for 10 years. This was reported by the RIA Novosti correspondent.

In addition to imprisonment, the prosecution wants to impose a fine on the Russian 750 thousand euros. The prosecutor's office considers Vinnik a “very smart and capable pirate” and “conductor of the orchestra” who coordinated the criminal activities.

Earlier, New Zealand arrested the funds of Vinnik's company in the amount of more than $ 90 million. It has been claimed to have facilitated the legalization of the proceeds of crime, including cybercrime, theft and drug trafficking.

Alexander Vinnik was arrested on July 25, 2017 at the request of the United States while on vacation in northern Greece. Then it was reported about the intention to extradite Vinnik to the States, where he faces up to 55 years in prison and a multimillion-dollar fine. In March and April 2018, the arrested person appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia with a confession, where he confessed to hacker attacks and money laundering on an especially large scale. On January 24, 2020, Vinnik was extradited to France, where he is also suspected of identity theft and extortion.
