The French authorities do not exclude the next introduction of a self-isolation regime in the event of a worsening epidemiological situation in the country. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Health of the republic, Olivier Veran.

“We do not rule out the introduction of measures that may be necessary to protect the population from the coronavirus,” the minister said in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche.

According to Veran, “this does not mean that the decision has been made, but the Ministry of Health monitors the development of the situation every hour”.

He noted that on average in France, “about 15 thousand cases of coronavirus a day” are detected, while earlier it was about reducing this indicator to 11 thousand.

The minister emphasized that the burden on the country's health care system remains high – “about 1.5 thousand people are hospitalized every day.”

Earlier, the first case of a new coronavirus strain previously identified in the UK was recorded in France.
