As a result of the incident, four protesters were injured.
In the Canadian city of Winnipeg on Friday evening, February 4, an SUV drove into a crowd of demonstrators protesting against quarantine restrictions and mandatory vaccination against COVID-19.
This is reported by the CBC.
According to the head of the local police Rob Carver, a white jeep rammed a group of protesters around 21:50 local time.
As a result of the accident, four people were injured, three of whom received minor injuries and did not need medical help, and another injured person had to be hospitalized. As of Saturday, the man was discharged from the hospital.
“It’s just a miracle that no one was seriously injured,” Carver stressed. He added that the 42-year-old SUV driver tried to escape from the scene at speed by running a red light, but he was caught up after about 40 minutes and detained after a short struggle.
The man has been charged with a number of charges, including assault with a weapon, dangerous driving causing bodily injury and refusing to stop at the scene of an accident. The suspect is in custody.
Carver refused to comment on the motives of the detainee, but pointed out that the first testimony of the accused indicates that the accident is not related to his views on vaccination against coronavirus: “He was neither for nor against any general views that are floating in the country.”
At the end of the day yesterday in Winnipeg. A provocateur deliberately ran over a protester with his suv and injured 3 others. He’s been apprehended. Recall that in Canada at the end of January, protests broke out against quarantine restrictions and vaccination against COVID-19. The so-called “Freedom Convoy” began as a rally of truckers for the abolition of the coronavirus vaccination mandate for cross-border workers, but later turned into a mass demonstration against excessive government influence during the pandemic.
Amid mass protests, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family moved to a secret location due to security concerns.
