A family's vacation turned into an endless horror.
In Canada, a family member died by mistake while on vacation in Cuba received the body of a Russian.
CTV News Montreal reports this.
Faraj Jarjour died on March 22 near Varadero and when the family came to identify the 68-year-old father of two, in the coffin lay a Russian man, about 20 years younger, with tattoos and a full head of hair.
“It was not my father’s body,” Farja’s daughter Miriam said. “He was a different man who was not like my father.” “I’m shocked,” added son Karam. “I cried.”
Farage had a heart attack at sea on the second day of their family holiday. Because there was no doctor at the hotel where they were staying, the family waited for hours for an ambulance to arrive and take his body.
Then they called the Canadian consulate, where they were told that it was closed on the weekend and they could come on Monday. The consulate also said the family must pay $10,000 to send Jarjour's body back to Canada. They collected money and waited three weeks. They now have his passport and death certificate, but they don't know where his body is.
The family tried to contact the Canadian government several times, and when they finally got through to someone, Miriam said the employee said it was not their responsibility. According to her, it was the responsibility of the Cuban health insurance company Asistur, which delivered the body.
However, Miriam said that she had never contacted this company. “We Canadians are not protected in Cuba,” she said.
Urgel Bourgie funeral home in Montreal told CTV News it is in contact with the Cuban company and is looking for a suitable body. Meanwhile, Global Affairs Canada is reviewing the case.
The whole ordeal took an emotional and physical toll on the family. “My mother hasn’t eaten for a month because of what happened,” Karam said.
Recall that the bride wants to break off her engagement to her beloved after what he did with her mother's ashes. Users are sure that it was her mother who “did her a favor from the other world.”
