The man showed aggression when the captain wanted to change the flight route because the passenger was not feeling well.
In California, the pilot of a passenger plane threatened to shoot the captain because he wanted to help a passenger who became ill.
The Mirror writes about this.
As it became known, pilot Jonathan Dunn faces up to 20 years in prison for an incident on board a passenger plane in August 2022. A grand jury in Utah, USA, accused Dunn of interfering with an airplane crew.
Prosecutors say Dunn was the first officer or co-pilot on the flight – he was allowed to carry a gun on the plane.
“Following a controversy regarding a possible flight rerouting due to a passenger becoming unwell. Dunn told the captain he would be shot if the captain diverted the flight, the inspector general's office said.
Dunn was described in the indictment as a California pilot. It did not identify the airline involved in the incident, saying only that it was a commercial flight.
The inspector general said it is cooperating with the FBI and Federal Aviation Administration in the investigation.
The two-page indictment in Utah federal district court states only that Dunn “did use a weapon to assault and intimidate the crew member.”
Interfering with an aircraft crew is a criminal offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison. The court hearing is scheduled for November 16.
The pilot's indictment came just days before an Alaska Airlines pilot on board attempted to turn off the engines of a Horizon Air plane mid-flight. He was subdued by the captain and co-pilot and arrested after the plane returned to Portland, Oregon.
