In Belgium, a stranger pushed a woman onto a subway track as a train was arriving at the station.
The incident took place on the evening of January 14 in Brussels. The scene of the attack was captured by the subway surveillance cameras.
The footage shows that the man walked along the platform, sneaking through other passengers close to the woman. He waited for the sound of the train's arrival and only then pushed the passenger with all his might onto the track.
Since the attacker acted behind the woman's back, she had no chance not to fall down.
The driver rescued the woman
Social media users were struck by the reaction of the subway train driver. He managed to stop literally in front of the body of the injured woman.
Caring passengers helped her up onto the platform, after which an ambulance was immediately called.
“The driver reacted very well, but he was very shocked, as was the victim,” a spokesman for the public transport company STIB, which manages the Brussels metro, told reporters.
The woman and the driver were taken to the hospital, and after providing the necessary assistance, both were released home.
The attacker was detained
Since there were many people on the platform at the time of the incident, the attacker could not go unnoticed.
Moreover, the attacker was easily identified on surveillance cameras, since he was without a protective mask.
According to the police, he has already been taken into custody. The man is accused of attempted murder: an examination has already been scheduled to check his mental health.
