On Monday, July 8, a rally was held in Berlin against the Russian missile attack on Ukraine, in particular on the children's hospital "Okhmatdyt" in Kyiv. The action organized by the movement of Ukrainians in Germany "Veche" (Vitsche eV), gathered about 900 participants near the Russian Embassy on Unter den Linden Boulevard.

At a rally near the Russian Embassy in Berlin against the strike on Okhmatdyt they were forbidden to speak Ukrainian.

This was reported by BILD.

On the evening of July 8, after Russia launched a missile attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, about 900 people gathered on Unter den Linden Boulevard in central Berlin, opposite the Russian Embassy. They opposed the massive missile strike of the Russian Armed Forces on the cities of Ukraine, in particular, on a children's hospital. People brought flowers, photographs, Ukrainian flags, and anti-war posters. The slogan “Glory to Ukraine!” was heard.

However, the Berlin police banned performances in Ukrainian. Speeches were only allowed in German and English.

The publication notes that in Germany there is no such law, but recently law enforcement officers may require to speak German or hire a translator. Such demands in Germany appeared in April 2023 after the action of radical Muslims in Berlin, who called for the destruction of Israel in Arabic, but the police did not understand this.

This time, as law enforcement officers reported, “Veche” coordinated the action on Monday afternoon, but did not find a translator from Ukrainian until the evening. The activists themselves do not agree with this.

“This is not true. We were asked about this, but there was no final agreement. Many Ukrainians still do not speak German very well. The language is part of our identity. And as luck would have it, it was in front of the Russian Embassy that many of us were sentenced to silence,” a Vitsche eV

representative told BILD

Recall that the occupying army of Russia on the morning of July 8 struck at the largest children's hospital in Ukraine “Okhmatdyt”. As of Tuesday morning, July 9, liquidation of the consequences of an enemy missile attack is underway here.
