If their guilt is confirmed, they face up to 20 years in prison.
In Belarus, five citizens have been charged with preparing a terrorist act on May 9, 2023, which, according to the prosecutor's office, was planned “under the leadership of Ukraine”.
This was reported by the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty.
On July 26, Minsk City Court Judge Sergei Khripach began a closed trial in the case of Valery Vodzin, Andrei Grigoriev, Anna Savochkina, Tatyana Rusak and Victoria Volchak. The defendants are charged with treason, terrorism, participation in a military conflict abroad, recruitment for such activities, illegal use of explosives and ammunition, creation of an extremist group and illegal transportation of explosives. If their guilt is confirmed, they face up to 20 years in prison.
Since the hearing was held behind closed doors, it is unknown whether the defendants admitted their guilt. They could not publicly comment on the accusations.
Recall that the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security reported that Belarusian security forces are preparing for provocations in the border zone with Ukraine, for which they plan to blame Kiev.
