On the evening of April 29, armed people attacked a mosque in western Afghanistan during prayer. The militants killed at least 5 people and wounded three more.

The identity of the attackers has not been established
The Taliban have said they are focused on restoring security since taking power following the withdrawal of foreign troops in 2021. However, attacks on mosques, religious seminaries and government buildings continue, despite the end of the 20-year war.
The militant Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The mostly Western Heart province, bordering Iran, is home to a Shiite religious minority that has suffered some of the worst attacks on civilians in Afghanistan's bloody history.
Earlier, another earthquake occurred in Afghanistan, destroying entire villages.
