Danilov criticized the authors of the Budapest memorandum/Office of the President
Ukrainians are well aware that the Budapest Momerandum was just a piece of paper. Now, when the war continues, it turned out that we do not have the promised protection at all.
Secretary of the Council of National Base and Defense Alexei Danilov, on the air of the national telethon, called this memorandum a failure. What's more, the lawyers who wrote it back then are now offering their services again.
I am surprised that the diplomats, who disgraced everything in 1994, now go around and offer something. After that shame in 1994, if I were them, I would stop appearing in the eyes of our society. And they have the audacity to continue to offer their services, – Danilov was indignant.
He also recalled that initially several countries were signatories of this memorandum. Over time, China joined them, from which our side definitely did not receive any help.
According to Danilov, diplomats in 1994 needed to work more carefully so that in the end the document would be more legally secure.
Danilov's latest statements
- The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council explained why the counteroffensive of our defenders and defenders and, as a result, the victory of Ukraine over Russia may not take place in the short term. According to him, Russia has a lot of so-called “cannon fodder” that it sends to Ukraine, because there is a lot of territory. Therefore, it will not be possible to deal with it quickly, unfortunately.
- Danilov also emphasized that talk about the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been going on for a long time. However, the situation is very difficult, and the weapons of our partners are a very important, but not the only determining factor. In order to successfully drive the enemy from our lands, the Armed Forces of Ukraine must form 6 more brigades, which is 25 thousand soldiers.
- The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council also spoke about the situation in Severodonetsk. The city is being stormed by the Russian military and every day it becomes more and more difficult. The aggressor's troops cover Ukrainian cities and towns around the clock with artillery. Although the Ukrainian military is holding the situation, it is becoming more and more difficult to do this every day.
