US Deputy Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander announced that since September, meetings of Ukraine's allies have been held in the “Ramstein 2.0” format.

The work of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, the so-called “Ramstein”, is moving into the format of long-term planning.

This was stated by the acting head of the Department of International Defense Cooperation Gennady Kovalenko at a briefing on November 23, Radio Liberty reports.

According to him, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Celeste Wallander announced that since September, meetings of Ukraine’s allies have been held in the “Ramstein 2.0” format.

“This is a transition from meeting immediate needs to more systematic, planned long-term work. This means that the creation of capability coalitions, that is, coalitions of capabilities, was announced. So far there are five of them: aviation, air defense, tank, artillery and maritime security coalition,” explained Kovalenko.

Each of the listed coalitions is led by one or two states, and their membership includes from 5 to 20 other countries.

Let us remind you that the 17th meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine took place on November 22 in an online format. Among the outcomes of the meeting was the formation of a new ground-based air defense coalition.
