Russians are counting on active participation in the music competition of the BRICS countries – Brazil, India, China and South Africa.
Russia will create a music festival similar to Eurovision and call it Intervision, after the competition that existed during the Soviet Union.
This was announced by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, who is quoted by Russian propagandists.
“We propose to create an open and independent Eurasian film festival and film award, as well as the Intervision music competition,” she said.
According to the minister, in this way Russia will help promote “cultural diversity in a multipolar world.”
Earlier, Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov said that in 2024 the Eurasian Film Academy could start working, which will present awards called the “Russian Oscar”.
Konstantin Ernst, director of Russia's Channel One, the television channel with the largest national coverage, 75% of which is controlled by the Russian government, for his part said that the new music competition will take place for the first time in 2024 and will be held annually.
Ernst assured that Intervision has no “political restrictions” and will be a “free platform” where all countries can present their best topics. At the same time, he noted that he counts on the “active participation” of members of the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). The participation of performers from the DPRK has not yet been announced.
During the Soviet period, there was already a music competition “Intervision”, in which several countries from the so-called “socialist camp” took part.
Let us recall that earlier in Russia they came up with a substitute for the Olympics – the international competition “World Friendship Games”, which will take place in 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. Many countries have been invited to this sports tournament, including North Korea and Eritrea.
