During the dispersal of a camp of illegal migrants in the Calais commune in northern France, 15 law enforcement officers were injured. The Police Trade Union of the National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (UNSA) of France announced this on its Twitter page.
“We express all our support for our injured colleagues. To protect against violence from migrants during these operations, the use of all our protective equipment is more than necessary, ”the union said in a statement. It is noted that at least one police officer has a dislocated shoulder, while another has a broken shin.
Hospitalization was required for 14 employees. “We wish the injured people a speedy recovery. Our colleagues have indeed become victims of violence! ”- these were the words the trade union addressed to the victims. According to the radio station France Bleu, clashes between illegal immigrants and the police began at noon Moscow time.
During the removal of migrants from the illegally built campground, about a hundred refugees attacked 60 police officers. Not only fists were used, but also cobblestones prepared by migrants. To neutralize the rebellious illegal immigrants, the guards had to use tear gas and rubber shells from special grenade launchers.
Earlier it became known that at least 13 employees of the Spanish Civil Guard were injured, stopping an attempt by illegal migrants from Africa to break through the Spanish-Moroccan border. According to information from Madrid, about 500 illegal immigrants tried to penetrate from Morocco to Spain in the area of the Spanish port city of Melilla in North Africa.
