On Wednesday, March 23, US President Joe Biden arrived in Brussels for emergency talks with European leaders regarding the war in Ukraine. The American leader has plans for additional anti-Russian sanctions.

Biden's trip includes talks with NATO and EU leaders in Brussels, as well as a visit to Warsaw for consultations with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

On Thursday, March 24, Biden will attend an emergency NATO summit, meet with G7 leaders and address 27 European Union leaders at the European Council session.

According to CNN, Biden's plane landed at Brussels airport at 21:03 local time (22:03 Kyiv time), the flight lasted seven 7 hours.

During a conversation with reporters before the flight, the American president did not tell the details of the upcoming negotiations with European partners. “I'm going to say it to their eyes. I'm going to say it. Everything I have to say, I'll say when I get there,” Biden assured.

Earlier, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters that Biden will announce a package of sanctions against Russian politicians and oligarchs on Thursday, March 24. At the same time, the G7 leaders will agree on coordinating the implementation of sanctions and plan to issue a joint statement.

According to him, in addition to imposing new sanctions against Russia, Biden will work with US allies to strengthen existing sanctions.

Sullivan also said that amid concerns about Europe's dependence on Russian energy, this topic will be discussed on Friday, March 25.

Biden will also discuss with allies in Brussels how to deal with rhetoric and comments about a potential use of nuclear weapons by Russia. The United States has not changed its nuclear stance.

Recall that US President Joe Biden believes that Russia may resort to the use of chemical weapons in the war against Ukraine.
