Goods in IKEA will become more expensive by an average of 9 percent. The intention to raise prices was announced by INGKA Group, which manages an international chain of stores. The intended measure is due to “changes in economic conditions affecting all industries.”
The rise in prices in each specific country will be different, the decision will be made depending on inflation in a particular state. Supply chain problems will also be considered. The company's expenses are growing due to significant difficulties with the transportation of goods and raw materials, which, according to forecasts, will continue in 2022. The most serious increase in spending grew in North America in Europe, indicated in the INGKA Group.
“We are taking this challenging step to make sure we can continue to deliver on our mission of improving the daily lives of many people, and to ensure our company's competitiveness and resilience. However, it is still extremely important for us to maintain affordable prices, ”explained Tolga Ongiu, retail manager of INGKA Group.
The upcoming price hike at IKEA was announced back in November. Then it was noted that goods will rise in price for the first time since 2019, due to problems with supplies and increased costs. It was assumed that the rise in prices will be more significant than last time.
