“If such a “black swan” comes to us, it will be difficult”: the diplomat commented on Trump’s statement about Ukraine

Alexander Jara explained why Trump's statements are baseless.

Donald Trump is the 45th head of the United States, a presidential candidate for elections in 2024, who made a scandalous statement about the war in Ukraine, saying that if he wins, he will end it “very quickly”, is a demagogue and an unpredictable person.

Diplomat, expert on foreign and security policy at the Center for Defense Strategies, Alexander Khara, said this on air on the Espresso TV channel.

“Trump is essentially a demagogue, his rhetoric is aimed at fans. His supporters often say: when Trump was president, Russia did not attack Ukraine. This is nonsense, since we have been at war with the Russian Federation since 2014 “, explained the diplomat.

Alexander Khara recalled how Trump tried to solve the North Korean problem: he met with the head of the DPRK Kim Jong-in, but this did not produce results.

“Yes, there were no tests of North Korean missile systems during Trump’s presidency, but nuclear warheads were not delivered, and the development of missile systems in the DPRK did not stop. In fact, Kim Jong-un now has the ability to strike the continental United States. That is, what what Trump says doesn’t quite correlate with reality,” said Alexander Khara.

He noted that the US presidential candidate is an unpredictable person and could become a “black swan” (an event with serious consequences – ed.) for Ukraine.

“We can expect positive things from Trump regarding Ukraine, I do not rule out such a thing, but there is a 5% chance that, for example, he will give a day to the Ukrainian and Russian presidents, and if Putin does not agree to peace, then then Trump will provide us with the help we need. I don’t rule it out, but it’s unlikely,” the expert added.

In addition, Donald Trump, according to the diplomat, has many negative “memories” associated with Ukraine.

“He believes that we helped Hillary Clinton, there was interference on servers in the American elections from our territory, and after a conversation with President Zelensky, impeachment proceedings were called. In addition, there are people around Trump who have a negative attitude to Ukraine. Therefore, if such a “black swan” comes to us in the form of Trump, it will be difficult,” Khara explained.

With the US election just 10 months away, pollsters and political scientists are fueling debate about who will get the 270 popular votes needed to fill the Oval Office.
