Iced Earth leader arrested in US for taking part in Capitol riots
American guitarist and leader of the heavy metal band Iced Earth, John Shaffer, was arrested for participating in the January 6 Capitol riots. The FBI division in Indianapolis announced this on its Twitter page .
“John Shaffer was arrested in connection with the January 6th Capitol incident. Schaffer faces six charges, including involvement in violent actions in the Capitol building. Shaffer was allegedly among the rioters who used bear spray on the Capitol police, “the agency said in a statement.
According to American media reports, Schaffer was caught in a photograph taken during the riots. He was found among the crowd that stormed the Capitol building. The FBI later posted this photo asking them to help them find people who were involved in the riots.
We will remind, on January 6, supporters of the incumbent US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol after a rally in Washington. In this regard, the work of the congress was interrupted for several hours. During the riots, a protester and a policeman were killed, and three more died from causes that were not related to violence.
Only after law enforcement officers removed the participants in the riots from the Capitol, the congressmen were able to approve the victory in the last US presidential election by Democrat Joe Biden. Trump was subsequently impeached by the House of Representatives. He is accused of inciting mutiny.
