Now, along with conventional syringes, special patches with microneedles are used. This method does not cause painful sensations. Microneedles are usually made from biodegradable polymers. However, scientists decided to replace polymers with plain ice.
Ice needles are inserted shallowly into the skin and immediately melt. At the same time, the medicine contained inside is released. In the work of the researchers, immune or stem cells were used as a filler.
Scientists said that ice needles are easier to make than polymer needles. In addition, they can make it easier to store cells before injection. After all, the material remains at a low temperature.
