In the Spanish city of Santander, the Botín Center hosts an exhibition of Pablo Picasso – from the period of Cubism to the last works of the master. The gallery features more than 200 paintings that trace the influence of Iberian art on the artist's work. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Picasso Museum in Paris.
Cecile Godefroy, curator of the exhibition: “This happens for the first time when we study such a long period of Picasso's work, his connection with Spanish and, above all, Andalusian roots.”
To showcase the diversity of Iberian art that inspired Picasso, the Botín Center has collected cultural artifacts.
Roberto Ontagnon Before, curator of the exhibition: “Iberian art, which Picasso got acquainted with in the Louvre, had a tremendous impact on both the personality of the artist himself and his work, and contributed to Picasso's transition to Cubism. It is noteworthy that art, which is more than 2000 years old, became the foundation of the artistic avant-garde of the twentieth century. ”
