“Russia sends repeat offenders to war, whose experience it considers useful in the bloody war in Ukraine,” noted the CNS.
They gave an example with the leader Transbaikal organized criminal group “Metsenatovskie” by Dmitry Vedernikov, who was sentenced to 24 years for numerous murders and robberies.
This criminal went to war against Ukraine and promised to bite the “enemy” with his teeth.

So, in October 2023, Vedernikov wrote a letter from prison in which he spoke about his qualities that could help in the war.
“Probably no one knows the price of freedom like a prisoner. I will gnaw the enemy with my teeth”, the criminal pointed out.
The CNS recalled that the Russian Ministry of Defense is very actively involving prisoners in the war against Ukraine. And recently in Russia an active recruitment campaign began in women's colonies.
By the way, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the level of desertion among Russian occupiers is growing. Thus, more than 18 thousand military personnel escaped from the armed formations of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.
