A 31-year-old man who severely beat and robbed a woman twice his age will be judged in the Kiev region. He could spend the next ten years in prison.
The incident took place on the evening of November 14 in Bila Tserkva. A 56-year-old woman was returning home when a stranger attacked her at the railway bridge.
Without a word, he took out a wooden board and struck her with a series of blows to different parts of the body. When the woman fell, the young man snatched the bag out of her hands, which contained cash, bank cards and a smartphone.
Immediately after that, the 31-year-old man planned to go with the loot to his fiancee, who lives in another area. Fortunately, caring passers-by helped the woman, and on the same evening, after reporting to the police, the attacker was detained.
While the interrogation continued, the 56-year-old woman was hospitalized: due to numerous injuries, she was under long-term treatment.
Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Art. 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. We are talking about robbery committed by a person previously held accountable for similar crimes.
The indictment for February 11 has already been sent to court. If the guilt of the attacker is proven, he faces seven to ten years behind bars with confiscation of property.
