A citizen of Nigeria tried to cross the Uzh river to get to Slovakia. He jumped into the river, but without the help of the border guards of the Chop detachment, he could not get ashore.
The border guards noticed the movement of an unknown person and immediately notified the border unit and moved forward for detention.
The intruder managed to overcome the fence and moved in the direction of the Uzh River, along which the border with Slovakia passes.
– Seeing the border guards, despite the cold weather, the man jumped into the river. But he immediately realized that he was getting excited, because the depth of the river and the speed of the current turned out to be not what he had imagined and it was completely beyond his power to get to the opposite bank at such a time of the year.
Therefore, the intruder tried to go back, however, the border guards had to help him get ashore, the State Border Service was informed.
Law enforcement officers brought the foreigner to the unit, found him dry clothes and shoes. The man did not have any documents with him, but said that he was a citizen of Nigeria and for some time worked as a janitor in Kharkov, and later decided to get to the EU countries in search of a better life.
The men had € 900 in two backpacks. , laptop, tablet, mobile phones and other things. Border guards check the veracity of the detainee's words, carry out verification measures, in particular, to establish his identity.
The foreigner will be brought to administrative responsibility under Art. 204-1 Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine КУоАП. The decision on the case will be made by the court.
